About this tour
Rust en Werk is a former coffee plantation that you can visit by bicycle. This Javanese village is known for its livestock farming and aquaculture, as well as the delicious local snacks that you can buy there. At Rust en Werk you will be greeted by kind villagers and a beautiful green landscape, which encompasses so much more than just livestock and crops. Explore the village by bike or in the famous “guest tractor” that takes you through the former plantation and its prime locations. Here, a rich history is hidden with many relics still present. Must-see monuments include the governor’s graves that date back to the 18th century. Buried here, among others, are the two daughters of Governor-General Wigbold Crommelin.
